Professional skills are vital in today’s job market, especially ones requiring a knowledge of technology, and one organisation is encouraging Cambodian youth to develop these skills by offering scholarships to study media technologies.
Bysonanummaul of South Korea is offering scholarships to study photography, video and editing to provide students with much sought after skills.
A student from Kampong Cham province, who only gave her name as Theany, said: “I came to the school and learned how to take photos, edit video and learn more about new technologies that can strengthen my abilities and make it easier to find a job.”
She added that photography and video editing skills can be used in all types of work.
Another student, Chan Rithy, said: “learning technology skills is indispensable and every youth should study them to improve their knowledge and skills because technical skills are in high demand.”
Bysonanummaul President Lee Jehee said that the organisation has trained many young Cambodians in photography and video editing.
She added that the training programme offered at the school lets Cambodian students exchange experiences through video with students in South Korea.
She said that students are taught video editing skills and other video media skills such as working on the production of a film and various other media projects in Cambodia. Students may use these skills in their work or as a hobby, such as on social media.
