World-famous Leg Lamp 50-feet tall! See it in Chickasha, Okla. | News

CHICKASHA, Okla. — Visit the hometown of the artist who created the Leg Lamp made famous in the 1983 film, “A Christmas Story.”

Noland James is celebrated with a 50-ft tall sculpture of his famous leg lamp.

This huge installation has the leg lamp standing on top of a wooden box marked “Fragile”, mimicking the iconic film scene.

“Legend has it that Chickasha artist Noland James’s personal leg lamp creation inspired the look of the infamous movie prop, making his hometown the perfect location for such a monument.” — TRAVEL OK

Oklahoma Tourism encourage you to visit the leg lamp in the winter, starting a new tradition. Or plan a trip to this permanent sculpture any time of year.

It’s a short weekend trip down I-44 from the Joplin area. Click here for directions to Chickasha.
